Illinois and Nebraska meet for the second time this season in Champaign, Ill., on Saturday following Fighting Illini’s 61-51 road win over Wisconsin over the weekend.
The Cornhuskers are in the middle of a three-game series and have lost five of six, including a 26-point loss to Illinois at home on Jan. 10. Can the team stay competitive away from home or will injury problems lead to yet another defeat?

Nebraska vs Illinois: Predictions and Player Picks
Nebraska is mired in injuries, including those of forward Juwan Gary and Emmanuel Bandoumel, who are both out for the year, limiting the Cornhuskers’ already thin rotation. Since Gary’s injury on January 10 once morest Illinois, the offense has been in freefall, averaging 61 points per game and only once 65 points.
They now face a top-20 defense in Illinois, which has put pressure on that side of the ball, holding Big Ten opponents to a conference-low 47 percent completion percentage. On the other side of the ball, Illinois struggles to find its perimeter shot, shooting less than 31 percent from beyond the arc in Big Ten games.
That total closed at 139.5 when these two teams first met in Lincoln, and is now five points lower following that game ended with 126 points. However, that drop isn’t enough given that Nebraska’s offense is an empty shell without two key contributors in the roster.
