Nearly 800,000 Venezuelans received aid from humanitarian organizations in February

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) of the United Nations (UN) reported that 791,000 people received some form of humanitarian aid in Venezuela between January and February of this year, managed by local and international organizations.

According to su monthly report On humanitarian assistance in Venezuela, the multilateral organization explained that the work of 94 organizations, including several United Nations agencies, reached 262 of the country’s 335 municipalities.

The number of beneficiaries represents 15.51% of the goal set for 2024when the UN expects that 5.1 million people living in extreme poverty will be assisted in the country.

The UN said the number of people reached in this period represents a significant increase compared to the same period last year, when 365,000 people were reached.

A total of 504,000 people received some type of aid to improve their food security and livelihoods, while another 277,000 received health care and some 80,000 received access to water, sanitation and hygiene, according to data reported by humanitarian actors to OCHA.

In addition, about 29,000 people “participated in awareness-raising activities« on protection against sexual exploitation and abuse.

«As of March 31, 2024, $33 million has been received for humanitarian aid in Venezuela, of which $9.6 million corresponds to the HRP (Venezuela Humanitarian Response Plan). As a result, current funding has reached 1.6% of the requested funds»he added.
