Nearly 5,000 students, career counselors, job market forecasts; Consultants of Colleges, Intermediate Schools and Vocational Education Centers of Ho Chi Minh City participated in the 11th “Career Orientation and Admissions” Festival – 2023 with the theme “Orientation – Choosing a career” Fit”.
The festival was organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Vocational Education Association in collaboration with the City Youth Employment Service Center (Yescenter) on the morning of February 18, at Tran Van Giau High School (Binh Thanh District).
According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Cuong, Director of the Youth Employment Service Center of Ho Chi Minh City, the festival aims to help students orientate, form self-control and be more confident in learning and choosing majors. profession on the basis of suitability with capacity, personal interests and family conditions. The students are consulted by experts in the field of vocational education, in-depth career guidance on current study professions, development trends and human resource needs of occupational groups in the coming time.
Coming to the festival, the students not only exchanged and exchanged directly with experts but also were provided with information regarding enrollment methods, training professions, regimes, policies, tuition fees and even words of advice. useful, objective and grounded advice when studying and career opportunities following graduation.
Nearly 50 schools participated in introducing a variety of professions such as information technology, software applications, industrial management, logistics, import-export business, commerce, accounting, auditing, finance and banking. , business administration, hotel management, tourism, social work… at the intermediate and college levels. “This not only meets the diversity of the human resource market but also contributes to improving training efficiency, reducing social costs, limiting unfortunate cases, lacking orientation to study without a job.” Mr. Nguyen Quang Cuong shared.
Participating in the “Vocational and Enrollment” Festival, Ho Chi Minh City Vocational College is expected to enroll 4,810 students in 2023. Of which 1,215 are College students, 595 Intermediate students, the rest are regular training. In order to create favorable conditions for candidates, the University conducts enrollment in several phases throughout the year in the form of direct admission, by post or online registration through the school’s website.
A large number of students participated in counseling and career guidance at the festival.
According to Dr. Tran Kim Tuyen, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City Vocational College, at the intermediate level, students only need to graduate from junior high school, while at the college level, they have graduated from high school. . “Especially, students who register for the intermediate level of a parallel study program between profession and culture (including 7 subjects), following graduating with a vocational intermediate degree, they can take the exam. Coming to the festival, Do Ngoc Bao Tram, a student of class 10A8 at Tran Van Giau High School, chose to pursue a career in logistics, which is attended by a large number of young people today. However, following being consulted, Bao Tram has a better understanding of this industry, especially when going into depth, there are many professions.
“To put it simply, logistics is a logistics service. As part of supply chain management that includes planning, implementing, controlling the arrangement, packing, transportation, customs clearance of goods and efficient storage of goods and services for delivery – receive goods on demand…”, Bao Tram shared.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Vocational Education Association, career guidance for the young generation as well as the distribution of students following graduation is one of the focuses of the Association’s activities and vocational education institutions in order to provide qualified and suitable human resources for the City. This is also an urgent need of many parents and students; thereby contributing to improving the social value of vocational training in association with forecasting the city’s labor market demand in light of the new trend of vocational education.
