MORE than 990 Palestinian medical workers have been killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7. The bombing of health care workers and facilities is part of a broader pattern of violence by Israel.
Palestinian Health Minister Majid Abu Ramadan said more than 300 health care workers have been arrested, and hospitals destroyed or rendered inoperable due to the strike. “Israeli bombardment has forced 130 ambulances out of service,” he said, as reported by Anadolu, Monday (9/23).
Five Health Ministry personnel were killed early Saturday (21/9) in an attack on the agency’s storage facility in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
He urged the international community and health organizations to put pressure on the occupation authorities to immediately stop the aggression, open the border crossings for medical supplies, and allow critically ill patients and the wounded to receive treatment.
Israel has continued its brutal attacks on Gaza since Hamas’ offensive last October despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire.
Nearly 41,400 victims, mostly women and children, have died and more than 95,700 people have been injured, according to local health authorities.
The Israeli offensive has displaced nearly the entire population of the territory amid an ongoing blockade that has resulted in shortages of food, clean water and medicine. (I-2)
