NeO’s Marc “xenoyr” Campbell bids Farewell, James dorton Takes the helm
The Australian progressive metal titans, NeO, have announced a important lineup change. After over two decades with the band, vocalist Marc “Xenoyr” Campbell has decided to step down. Campbell, a founding member, acknowledged that this decision, while unexpected to some, was a natural progression for him.
“This may come as a surprise to some and yet expected for others, but after much deliberation I’ve decided to leave NeO,” Campbell stated in a heartfelt message.”The very simple reason is that considering where I am mentally and in life, extensive touring is no longer for me, and in turn meaning the band and I part ways.”
Campbell’s departure is attributed to a desire to prioritize his creative endeavors and personal well-being. Despite leaving the stage, his passion for music remains, as he actively contributes to three other developing bands: Spiine, Omega Infinity, and Antiqva. “Creativity keeps me breathing, the stage lights do not,” he explained.
Stepping into the role of vocalist is James Dorton, who has been a familiar face to NeO fans during recent tours. “He’s held the fort for me for numerous tours over the last couple of years and has done an astonishing job, so I hand the hilt over to him – please make him feel welcome,” Campbell saeid.
While acknowledging the bittersweet nature of the change,NeO expressed their gratitude for Campbell’s immense contributions, affirming their enduring bond.”This band would literally not have existed without you,” the band stated in their announcement. “Even though you are not continuing as an official member of the band, you will always be our brother. We love you buddy, and wish you all the best in this new chapter of your journey.”
Looking ahead,NeO is optimistic about the future with Dorton at the microphone. They plan to expand their touring presence, with existing commitments to festivals in the USA, Mexico, and Europe. Fans can anticipate exciting new music in the works as well. “2025 is going to be another very exciting one for us… with a lot more touring on the horizon,” the band announced.
