FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State volleyball team saw its six-match win streak come to an end following falling short once morest Kansas City, 3-0, on Thursday night at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
Ali Hinze paced the Bison (17-8, 9-5 Summit) with a match-high 11 kills and extended her double digit kill streak to 15 matches. Kelley Johnson notched a double-double with a match-high 36 assists and team-best 10 digs. Ally Barth also reached double figures with 10 kills and a .588 hitting percentage.
Kansas City (19-7, 10-4 Summit) got off to a quick start doubling up NDSU, 14-7, following six straight points. The Bison fought back trimming the edge down to one, 19-18, following Alexis Boling delivered a kill. However, the Roos went on to close the set on a 6-2 run to win the frame, 25-20.
Kansas City continued to bring the energy into the second frame opening up a 15-5 edge following four straight points. The Bison attempted to rally stringing together a 5-0 run to make the score 16-11 following a kill from Boling. Kansas City held off NDSU the rest of the way to win set, 25-16.
Both teams battled through a back and forth third frame to find themselves locked, 20-20, following Hinze delivered a kill. The Bison then used a 3-0 run to steal a late 25-24 lead following an attack error. Kansas City responded with a 3-0 run of its own to take the set, 27-25, and the match, 3-0.
NDSU will be back in action at South Dakota on Saturday. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
