NCsoft, sales of 2.6 trillion last year… greatest ever

NCsoft (CEO Kim Taek-jin) announced on the 8th that last year’s sales reached 2.5718 trillion won, an increase of 11.39% from the previous year, the highest ever recorded (hereinfollowing referred to as K-IFRS consolidated). Operating profit was 559 billion won and net profit was 452.6 billion won, up 48.99% and 14.38% from the previous year, respectively.

Looking at the performance in the fourth quarter of last year, it recorded sales of 547.9 billion won, operating profit of 47.4 billion won, and net loss of 16.5 billion won. Compared to the same period last year, sales and operating profit decreased by 28% and 57%, respectively. Net profit or loss recorded a loss due to foreign exchange-related non-operating losses due to won depreciation.

Looking at annual sales by region, they are KRW 1,624.6 billion in Korea, KRW 625.2 billion in Asia, and KRW 165 billion in North America and Europe. Royalty sales were 157 billion won. Year-over-year, sales in Asia and North America-Europe increased by 40% and 44%, respectively. Overseas and royalty sales increased by 29% compared to the previous year, the highest ever. It accounts for 37% of total sales.

As for annual sales by product, mobile games recorded KRW 1,934.3 billion. ‘Lineage M’ 516.5 billion won, ‘Lineage 2M’ 391.5 billion won, ‘Blade & Soul 2’ 55.6 billion won, ‘Lineage W’ 970.8 billion won. PC online game sales were 390.4 billion won. ‘Lineage’ 106.7 billion won, ‘Lineage 2’ 94.1 billion won, ‘Aion’ 68.3 billion won, ‘Blade & Soul’ 26.3 billion won, ‘Guild Wars 2’ 95 billion won.

Mobile games grew 20% year-on-year, recording the highest sales ever. Lineage W, which was released in November 2021, recorded cumulative sales of 1,328.4 billion won. PC online game Guild Wars 2’s sales increased 29% YoY thanks to the launch of a new expansion pack.
