NCC fined one million yuan for mis-broadcasting war and natural disaster news

The China Television News and Information Channel has miscast information on war and natural disasters, which has aroused discussions from all walks of life. The NCC decided today that China Television’s 7:00 am news miscasting war and disaster prevention information and 9:00 pm news miscasting natural disaster information violated Article 21, Paragraph 3 of the Radio and Television Law, obstructing public order or good customs, and both cases were opened. A fine of NT$500,000, for a total of 1 million yuan.

The National Communications and Communication Commission (NCC) today made a decision on the case discussed at the 2nd “Radio and TV Program Advertisement Consultation Conference” in 2011.

Among them, there were 2 cases of China Television’s mis-broadcasting of information. The first case was an error message such as “New Taipei City was hit by a Communist missile, and Taipei Harbor was exploded, facilities, and ships were damaged.” In the second case, the news bulletin at 9:00 on April 20 broadcasted disaster misinformation such as “Datun volcano erupted and magma rolled down”.
