- The Wagner brothers put on a real show in Charlotte, almost single-handedly leading the struggling Magic to victory. Moritz Wagner booked 26 points from the bench, his brother Franz scored 19 points – the two Germans were also able to convince with their efficiency (19/28 FG combined).

- Both teams did not get up to speed offensively in the first half, the first two quarters each ended with a score of 23:19, Phoenix and Indiana both threw under 35 percent out of the field. Only Ayton (21 points) ran hot in the first round, at the break it was 46:38 for the Suns.
- Indiana hinted at a comeback in the third quarter but remained stone cold (27 percent FG) in the final stretch. Chris Paul scored 10 of his 12 points in the last 12 minutes and controlled the game, in the end it was a must-win for the team with the best record in the league.
