NBA Summer Market Update: Celtics Pursuing TJ Warren and Lamar Stevens for Wing Addition

We are almost at the end of August and the majority of NBA teams have completed their summer market. But some still have places in their workforce and are still looking to strengthen. This is the case of the ambitious Celtics, who are interested in TJ Warren and Lamar Stevens.

Among the not uninteresting players who are still free agents at the time of these lines, we have TJ Warren and Lamar Stevens. Not at all the same profile, the first is best known for his scoring skills while the second has made a name for himself through his defensive qualities in Cleveland. But Boston is keeping tabs on both.

Indeed, if we are to believe the insider of The Athletic Shams Charania, the Celtics will meet Warren and Stevens in Boston this week, where they will undergo a workout to try to convince the leaders of the Greens.

With only 11 players currently under guaranteed contract, the Celtics are looking to strengthen on the wings, where it lacks depth behind stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

TJ Warren remains on a 2022-23 campaign averaging 7.5 points on 49% shooting (33% from 3-pointers) between Brooklyn and Phoenix. As a reminder, the former Indiana was coming out of two white seasons because of numerous physical glitches at the foot, but managed to find the right path to contribute once more offensively, even if we are far from his production with the Suns or the Pacers between 2017 and 2021.

As for Lamar Stevens, he has seen his responsibilities increase with the Cavaliers over the seasons, establishing himself as an element that matters on the wing for coach JB Bickerstaff. However, he was sacrificed by the Cavs this summer, he who was part of the three-way deal with Miami and San Antonio to allow the arrival of sniper Max Strus in Cleveland. In the followingmath, Stevens was cut by Spurs.

In addition to TJ Warren and Lamar Stevens, know that the Celtics will also try Louis King, also a winger (via HoopsHype).
