Boston Celtics – Miami Heat: 101-111

Both teams are tied 1-1

The Heat beat the Celtics in their own game. Boston has been torching opposing defenses all season. On Wednesday night, it was Jayson Tatum and his comrades who showered prize-winning baskets on their heads. 23 total for Miami (in 43 attempts, 53% success), a new franchise record. Tyler Herro (24 points) scored 6 of his own and Caleb Martin (21 points) added 5. They scored almost as many three-pointers between them as the entire opposing team (12). This is the exact same Martin who buried the Celtics’ hopes of a comeback by sending a new banderilla as the Massachusetts franchise came back to within 6 lengths (96-102) 3 minutes from the buzzer.

Jaylen Brown scored 33 points, including 3 consecutive baskets that allowed Boston to take a 4-point lead (59-55) at halftime. The Heat later responded by going 10-0 in the third quarter (70-82). Tatum scored 28 points and Herro dished out 14 assists.

So Miami has already “regained” home field advantage by winning away from home during the first two games. Erik Spoelstra’s men will host the next two events, probably still without Jimmy Butler. They won’t always be as skilled, but they once once more showed their ability to find resources to compete with the best in the playoffs.

Oklahoma City Thunder – New Orleans Pelicans: 124-92

Oklahoma City leads the series 2-0

After a delicate and difficult (but victorious) start to the opening of its playoff campaign, the Thunder set the record straight by crushing the Pelicans in Game 2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge by scoring 33 points on 13-of-19 shooting. Overall, New Orleans mightn’t do anything once morest the Oklahoma City address. The Canadian superstar and his teammates converted 59% of their attempts, including 14 of their 29 three-point attempts.

Without Zion Williamson, the Pelicans mightn’t keep up on offense. They were limited to 92 points, including 20 for Jonas Valanciunas. But even if he scored his points, the Lithuanian center did not have the same performance in rebounds (20 in the first game), precisely because the Thunder made sure to apply themselves in this area.
