Friday marked the deadline for teams to either terminate players’ unguaranteed contracts or make them valid for the remainder of the season. Isaiah Hartenstein is unsurprisingly able to stay with the LA Clippers.
Several US media report this unanimously. Although Hartenstein is currently injured and has been out since mid-December, the German international had previously played well with the Clippers. Coming from the bench, he recorded 7.7 points and 4.7 rebounds on average over the season.
The 23-year-old only earned a place in the squad through the training camp, and because of Serge Ibaka’s injury, he became the first reserve big. Over the season he made $ 1.7 million in Los Angeles.
Not all of the decisions made on Friday regarding the other unguaranteed contracts across the league are known yet, but the following have already been made.
Most of all, the surprise dismissal of former No. 2 pick Jabari Parker in Boston, who the Celtics kept ahead of the season instead of Garrison Mathews. Ime Udoka’s team, which is currently in crisis, obviously decided to keep a manager position and thus more flexibility.
