He entered a little more this night in the history of the NBA. Los Angeles Lakers star winger LeBron James has indeed surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the ranking of the best NBA scorers, regular season and playoffs included. Against Golden State, the King scored 26 points even if it proved insufficient to beat the current 2nd best team in the regular season (behind the Phoenix Suns) who won at the end of the game (117- 115).
His 26 units still allow him to break the record with now 44,157 career points. At 37, playing his 19th NBA season, James demonstrates that he is still one of the greatest players in the history of the sport even though most fans believe that Michael Jordan remains is probably forever the GOAT (note: greatest of all time, the best of all time) ultimate.
He is aiming for the record in the regular season
Already the record holder for points scored during the “postseason”, the four-time NBA champion will need, at his current rate, 14 games to take second place from Karl Malone (36,928) in the regular season standings, and another 64 games to climb to the first leg, ahead of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387). Barring injury, LeBron James should therefore overtake Malone by the end of this regular season but will have to wait until the next one to dethrone Abdul-Jabbar.
“I don’t particularly have that record in mind right now, because losing is still so much in my mind,” LeBron James said following the game. But the majority of my teammates came to see me when they heard the news, staff members too, and I received messages from my friends and family. So that’s pretty huge, and I appreciate all the congratulations and compliments. “In the Pantheon of the best NBA scorers, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan occupy the 4th and 5th place. Habs Tony Parker is 37th with 23,518 career points.
