LeBron James (Lakers) has easily taken the lead in fan voting for the All-Star Game, which will take place on February 20 in Cleveland, overtaking Stephen Curry (Golden State) in the West, Kevin Durant (Brooklyn) remaining the most popular in the East.
Two days before the closing of the votes, “King James” is not only almost guaranteed an 18th participation, but he clearly stands out to be named team captain of the West, with 6,827,449 votes collected, according to a third score unveiled Thursday by the NBA.
In one week, he has largely overtaken Curry, in the lead since the opening of the vote, and who has 6,019,418 votes.
In the East, Kevin Durant, with 5,496,513 votes, retains the lead, still followed quite closely by Giannis Antetokounmpo, defending champion with Milwaukee (5,124,925).
Meanwhile in the West, the other popular players are pivot Nikola Jokic (Denver), MVP of last season, winger Andrew Wiggins (Warriors), the phenomenon Ja Morant, currently irresistible with the Grizzlies.
The fan vote represents 50% of the votes, which will be supplemented by those of the players (25%) and the journalists (25%).
The composition of the two major five and the identity of the captains will be revealed next Thursday.
