The Cavaliers officially announced that the team has officially renewed the contract of All-Star guard Darius Garland. According to team policy, the specific details of the contract have not been released yet.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Garland signed a five-year, $193 million max contract with the Cavaliers, the largest amount in Cavaliers history. If the specified terms are triggered, it can rise to a maximum of $231 million over five years.

Garland was selected by the Cavaliers with the fifth overall pick in the first round of 2019. He played in 68 games in the 2021-22 season, averaging 21.7 points (highest in a single season), 3.3 rebounds, 8.6 assists, 1.3 interceptions, 29 double-doubles and 42 games. Scored 20+ points, made the All-Star Game for the first time in his career, and became the first player in Cavaliers history since LeBron James to average at least 20 points and 8 assists per game in a single season. He led the Cavaliers to a 44-38 record, the best since the 2017-18 season, and finished third in the Improved Player of the Year award.
