NBA calendar – Warriors – Lakers at the start of the season, Chicago – Detroit in Paris

The defending NBA champions Golden State Warriors will host the season opener Los Angeles Lakers while the runners-up Boston Celtics will host the Philadelphia 76ers, the North American Basketball League announced on Wednesday.

As in the previous fiscal year, each franchise will play 82 regular season games until April 9, before a playoff tournament, which begins on April 15. Two matches will take place outside the North American continent: the Miami Heat will face the San Antonio Spurs on December 17 in Mexico City, while the Chicago Bulls will meet the Detroit Pistons on January 19 in Paris for a matchup that smells like powder of the 1980s and 1990s, when Michael Jordan and his band rubbed shoulders with the “Bad Boys of Motor City”.

He will play (at least) until he is 40: LeBron will extend with the Lakers

For the fifteenth consecutive season, five matches will animate “Christmas Day” on December 25: the Knicks will host Philadelphia, the Lakers will travel to Dallas, Milwaukee will go to Boston, the Warriors will host Memphis and Phoenix will play in Denver. On the other hand, the floors of the NBA will remain empty on November 8, the day of the American midterm elections, to encourage basketball fans to vote. According to an NBA estimate, each team will travel an average of 66,000 kilometers during the 2022-2023 season. This would be the lowest distance per squad since the start of the era at 30 franchises and 82 games per season.
