NBA: An evening off for Kawhi Leonard on Monday against the Pistons

Kawhi Leonard should be well rested Tuesday night in Toronto, with the Clippers giving him a break Monday in Detroit against the Pistons.

Right knee and right ankle injuries have meant the former Raptor has been limited to 13 appearances this season. In those, Leonard averaged 16.3 points.

His contribution to his last five outings is up, at 23.8 points per game.

The Los Angeles game at Little Caesars Arena will air on NBA TV Canada, beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Raptors will host the Clippers on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

The Clippers are on a five-game road trip that will also take them to Boston and Indianapolis. On Friday, they were beaten by five points in Philadelphia.

The Clippers also have former Raptor Norman Powell in their ranks. He is third among his team with 15 points per game. The club’s leader in this regard is Paul George (23.3).

The Raptors’ week will also include home games against Memphis and against Phoenix. The one against the Grizzlies will take place Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The one against the Suns will be presented Friday at 7:30 p.m. on RDS2.

Suns leading scorer Devin Booker aggravated a groin injury early Sunday against the Nuggets.

Booker is 12th in the league with 27.1 points per game, on average.

He is seven 3-pointers short of Canadian Steve Nash at the top in Suns history.

Among the Grizzlies, Ontarian Dillon Brooks is third on the team with 17.8 points per game, on average.
