Authentic gameplay thanks to ProPLAY™-Technology
The ProPLAY™ technology, which was already introduced in NBA 2K24 and provides authentic animations and movements of NBA action on the court on the PS5, has been significantly expanded for the new part of the franchise. Around 9,000 new animations have been added to seamlessly transfer real NBA moments into the gameplay on the virtual court. These include 1,500 dribble animations, 1,100 signature shots from the best players from the 2023/2024 NBA season and a whopping 1,300 off-the-ball animations with 150 signature motion styles.

With the brand new dribble engine, ProPLAY™ also offers one of the biggest gameplay changes in recent years. Real NBA footage is used to generate dynamic movements that correspond one-to-one to the dribbling of NBA pros. The result is the most realistic gameplay in the entire NBA 2K series.
Innovations in attack and defense
In NBA 2K25, you write your own story again and it is your individual playing style that will take you to the top of the league. To prove yourself as a top athlete on the court, there are numerous updates in offense and defense that you can use to dominate the game. These include powerful features such as Pro Stick Rhythm Shooting, Custom Visual Cues, the shot timing profile or the new shot canceling, where you break out of a shot and switch to another movement to outwit your opponent.

You also have more options in defense to further refine your individual style. For example, you can use the defensive cutoff system to strengthen your defense by dynamically changing direction and quickly sliding sideways into position to intercept an attack from the opposing offense. Choose from a list of 40 improved badges that make your player more powerful the more often they are activated in games. This time there is even an additional level and “Legends” are now available via “Hall of Fame”. Also get the new badge boosters that give your player a permanent boost. Of course, you can first try out your player in the build tester and test all assets in 2v2, 5v5 or the newly introduced training option to see if they are suitable for your playing style.
And speaking of new features, the Unleashed system in NBA 2K25 offers 72 Unleashed modes and 14 Unleashed abilities that target different attributes. Fill the Unleashed meter by performing on the court and when your player is really on fire and reaches level 5, the Unleashed ability will activate and you will be at your best.

In MyNBA, you travel back to the Steph era of 2016 and thus to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Experience the legendary run alongside absolute superstars like Draymond Green, Kevin Durrant and Klay Thompson or challenge one of the greatest dynasties and rewrite basketball history. The Emirates NBA Cup will continue to be integrated into My NBA and you send your team into the group matches and knockout rounds.

You can not only prove your skills as a player on the court, but also demonstrate your basketball expertise as the general manager of an NBA team. In MyGM, you choose your own individual background story and management style to take over the management of a franchise. It’s no easy task, because you have to take care of the needs of your players and set goals in dynamic conversations with alternative dialogue options. To ensure that you achieve your goal, you have 55 perks at your disposal right from the start, which significantly improve your skills as a general manager.
Four new game modes in MyTEAM
In addition to new cards and the community’s long-awaited return of the auction house, where you can trade cards and expand your collection, the popular MyTEAM also offers four new game modes in which you can compete with the competition. Via the MyTEAM menus or The City you can access Triple Threat Park, a replica of the NBA 2K16 Rivet City Championship MyPARK. The new home of the co-op multiplayer mode Triple Threat Online, where you can take part in 2-player and 6-player co-op matches on nine courts.
You can also take on the new single-player mode Breakout and compete and win rewards in quick 3v3 Triple Threat, 5v5 Clutch Time or shortened 13-map Full Lineup matches. Opponents include current NBA teams, historical teams or all-time teams. Once you reach the edge of the Breakout board, all you have to do is defeat the Gatekeeper team that stands in the way of your victory.

Showdown is a new multiplayer mode that offers the best rewards but also challenges experienced players. The evolution of Unlimited from previous years is played with a full lineup of 13 maps in 4-minute quarters. Winning streaks help you climb the rankings. After a certain number of wins per week, you qualify for the new competitive mode King of the Court.
This is where the best of the best compete for the ultimate prize in an exclusive event. King of the Court will be held every Saturday from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. for qualified players starting September 14, 2024, and you will collect game points each time until the number one is determined at the end.
