NBA 2K23 Reveals New Gameplay Improvements

2K has revealed new gameplay enhancements that will be featured in NBA 2K23, the NBA video game simulation series set to launch on the 9th of next month.

In NBA 2K23, new skill moves, animations, and player builds have been improved for a more realistic gameplay.

First, with the addition of shooting properties, the effect of each signature jump shot can be measured through shooting statistics, and 5 new shot meters will be provided, and 15 new meters will be added over the next season.

The Pro Stick also adds new gesture combos that add a variety of new weapons to both the playmaker’s shooting and ball handling skills, and a new dunk command that lets players dunk exactly the way they want.

In Skill Move, new gestures allow for more ball handling and shooting options when attacking.

At the same time, an adrenaline boost that prevents overdribbling is newly introduced, and if all three boosts are exhausted through a powerful move or a fast run, speed and acceleration are significantly reduced for the remainder of the ball possession period.

Defensive gameplay reflects major updates targeting more realistic on-ball defense, shot blocking, steals and ball strips, and blocks are adjusted to a more realistic level, making it easier for players to predict blocks.

The existing 1st and 2nd rounds of Takeover are maintained as they were before, but Team Takeover has been redesigned and changed to a team cooperation system in which the entire team shares one meter.

The latest tier badge system is introduced in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, and you must equip the lower tier badges for a certain period of time before you can equip the higher tier badges.

Other improvements can be seen in AI ball handling, pick and roll execution, defensive tendencies, and coach decisions.

Mike Wang, Gameplay Director, Visual Concepts, said, “As we create each version of NBA 2K, we value community feedback, and this year’s gameplay enhancements bring many of the community’s most requested changes. reflected “From a focus on how players attack the goalpost to a more realistic on-ball defense and a new tier badge system, all of these features will deliver a more realistic gameplay experience for everyone to enjoy.”
