Nayib Bukele reports capture of 3 Guatemalans with cocaine shipment
Three Guatemalans and six Ecuadorians were captured in Salvadoran waters while transporting a shipment of cocaine, reported President Nayib Bukele.

The Navy of El Salvador seized a ton and a half of cocaine and detained six Ecuadorians and three Guatemalans who were crewing a boat that transported drugs through the Pacific Ocean, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele reported this Wednesday, March 27.
“Our National Navy seized a boat 490 nautical miles” (regarding 900km) from the Salvadoran coast, the president wrote on his X social network account.
“It is estimated that it contains approximately 1.48 tons of cocaine, valued at regarding 37 million dollars,” Bukele added.
The president also indicated that “the drug trafficking boat had 9 crew members; among them, 6 Ecuadorians and 3 Guatemalans” and published photos of those detained on a coast guard vessel on the high seas.
The Salvadoran Navy frequently makes cocaine seizures in the Pacific Ocean, which is a route used by cartels to transport drugs from South America to the United States.
90 percent of the cocaine that enters the United States passes through Mexico and Central America, according to Washington.
