“When you arrive at the crossroads, coming from Brussels, you see the panel 50 on the other side of the crossroads, and on the perpendicular boulevard”, confides the bewildered driver.

And he is obviously not the only one… On social networks, in a group of motorists well known to the people of Brussels, similar testimonies are pouring in regarding the fixed radar “bombarding with flashes” the Ninove roadway. “PV last month my family and I”, “we need a sign announcing zone 30 then”…

“It’s definitely an area 30”

Contacted, the municipality of Anderlecht assures that the situation is in no way illegal. “From a strictly legal point of view, it is indeed a zone 30”, informs us the mayor of Anderlecht Fabrice Cumps (PS).

Remember that zone 30 is indeed applicable everywhere in the Brussels Region except in the case of a sign indicating the contrary. However, on this section of the chaussée de Ninove to the Mettewie crossroads, no sign indicates 50. The mayor reminds us that the control is organized by the Region, the road manager, and not the municipality.

The socialist, however, judges “personally” that an additional informative panel would be appropriate “even if in theory no one is supposed to ignore the law”.
