THE Navalnya staunch critic of Vladimir Putin for many years, had appeared the day before healthy and smiling, while leaders and international figures speak of a “brutal murder”.
Prisons in the Arctic, where Alexei Navalny was held, announced that he died following feeling unwell following a walk. It should be noted that Navalny had survived harsh prison conditions, while he had previously been poisoned.

“I don’t know whether or not to believe this terrible news that we are getting only from Russian government sources,” Yulia Navalny told the MSC conference in an unscheduled appearance at the event.
“For many years we cannot trust Putin and the Putin government. They always lie,” he added, speaking clearly and loudly.
“But if this is true, I want Putin and everyone around him to know that they will be held accountable for everything they did to our country, to my family. And that day will come very soon,” said Alexei Navalny’s wife.
“I want to call on the international community and all people to unite and defeat this evil,” he said, and the audience burst into applause.

At the same time, with information from iefimerida, the mother of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny reportedly stated, according to the Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta, that her son was “alive, healthy and happy” when she last saw him on the 12 February.
According to Novaya Gazeta, Lyudmila Navalnaya wrote on Facebook today: “I don’t want to hear regarding condolences. We saw him in prison on the 12th (February) at a meeting. He was alive, healthy and happy.”
Already, international leaders have spoken regarding the death of Alexei Navalny, including Olaf Soltz, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Volodymyr Zelensky and Charles Michel.
