The accident occurred during core drilling work for a hot water pipe, the police said in a release. Gas immediately leaked out into the open, clearly noticeable. The alerted fire department gave the all-clear following turning off the main gas pipe and carrying out an inspection.
A 25-year-old worker had previously called the emergency number. The site was cordoned off over a large area, it was said. After inspecting all rooms in the apartment building, it was confirmed that there were no dangerous gas concentrations. According to the police, no residents had to be evacuated nor were there any injuries. The fire brigade arrived with a total of 39 emergency services and eight vehicles, and four rescue cars and an emergency doctor with nine employees and operations manager were also on site. Three police patrols were also called in.
