NATO Secretary General: V. Putin’s military goal is no longer achievable

He reminded that the goal of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion was to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO and the European Union. At the same time, after almost two years of war, Ukraine is now closer to NATO and the EU than ever before.

J. Stoltenberg also noted that Russia is paying an extremely high price for its war. Thus, the country has already lost hundreds of planes and thousands of tanks, and more than 300,000 soldiers have been killed or wounded. In addition, the war caused an increase in inflation and a decline in the standard of living. Russia is also more politically isolated than before.

At the same time, the Secretary General of NATO warned that, taking into account the events, one should not expect a quick end to the war and not expect that V. Putin after March 17. the scheduled re-election will change its course.

“There are no signs that V. Putin is changing his goals and policies. He will continue to try to occupy more territories,” said Mr. Stoltenberg.

According to him, this means that NATO and its 31 member states must continue to strongly support Ukraine.

“Ukrainians have shown that they can defend themselves, defend themselves, especially when they receive weapons from Germany and many other NATO countries,” concluded J. Stoltenberg.

Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, stated on Thursday that Ukraine is already producing weapons together with NATO countries. At the same time, he said, Kyiv needs to increase production, “but these are technical processes that are prepared by the relevant institutions, by the relevant people.”
