The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) secretary-general said there is a risk of a new military conflict in Europe amid growing military tensions with Ukraine due to Russia’s mobilization of military forces.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said it was impossible to supply weapons to Ukraine, which was in imminent danger with Russia.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said in an interview with Bild following the German chancellor on the 18th local time, “There is really a risk of a new military conflict in Europe. know that,” he explained.
“Some of the Russian troops have been deployed to the border with Ukraine, but some are already in the Crimean Peninsula, which is Ukraine’s territory,” he said.
“The safety of regarding 1 billion people living in Ukraine and its allies is at stake,” Stoltenberg said.
Regarding the possibility of other provocations besides war with Russia, he added, “On the one hand, there is a risk of invasion, but on the other hand, there is also the possibility of a hybrid or cyber attack.”
