What a national team debut for Zurich’s Wilfried Gnonto. The FCZ striker started the 1-0 lead for Italy following coming on as a substitute once morest Germany. In the end, the Italian B-Elf fought for a 1:1 draw.

The European champions Italy, who were ailing following missing out on qualifying for the World Cup, are looking for new hope. One of these is Wilfried Gnonto, who is the only outfield player from a foreign club to make it into the somewhat experimental Italian squad for the upcoming Nations League games. Just five minutes following being substituted on, the 18-year-old made his first exclamation mark. He passed over Thilo Kehrer and passed low to Lorenzo Pellegrini, who only had to push in to make it 1-0 (70′).

The Germans, who were only superior in terms of game shares, reacted immediately through Joshua Kimmich (73rd) and saved Hansi Flick’s unbeaten state as national coach. The Bayern Munich midfielder might have scored once more later but was denied by goalie Gianluigi Donnarumma, one of only two Italians on the field with more than 25 caps.
