(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kang Ae-ran = Oh Seung-ryong, an advisor to the Korea Voice Actors Association, who led the era of radio heyday in the 1950s and 1960s, passed away on the 21st. He died at the age of 87.

According to the broadcaster, Oh, who had suffered from chronic kidney failure for a long time, recently lost his health and was hospitalized and passed away on the same day.

Born in Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do in 1935, the deceased began acting in the radio children’s play ‘The Adventures of Dude’ in 1949 when he was in middle school.

When he first started working as a voice actor, he was mainly active in the radio when TV was not available in every house. Oh appeared in radio dramas such as ‘Cheongsil Hongsil’ and ‘Jang Hee-bin’, but at that time, recording skills were lacking, so most of them had to perform live broadcasts.

The representative work of the deceased is MBC radio’s current satirical drama ‘Mistake Bullet’. During his military regime, he led a program to denounce corruption and social injustice.

In a broadcast interview while he was alive, Oh said, “Of course there was external pressure,” and “There were times when (the program) almost disappeared, but then I ran away and (broadcasted).”

The deceased continued his activities as a radio host. He has hosted ‘Quiz Olympics’ and ’60 Years of Age, 60 Years of Singing’ on KBS, ‘Seoul Story’ on Seoul Transportation Broadcasting (TBS) and ‘100 Years of Age, 100 Years of Song’ on National Transportation Broadcasting (TBN). , TBN ‘Seoul Night Song’, etc.

In addition to a minor role in the movie ‘The Korean Connection’ (1990), he appeared in the dramas ‘500 Years of the Joseon Dynasty (1983), ‘Park Moon-soo’ (2002-2003), and ‘Sangdo’ (2001-2002).

At times, he is praised for telling the story of the world with his kind words like a generous grandfather, and sometimes with a voice of sharp criticism comparable to that of a current affairs critic.

In 2011, he was recognized for his contribution to broadcasting, such as receiving the Cultural Medal at the 2011 Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards, the KBS Acting Award for Voice Actor, the Radio Acting Award from the Korea Broadcasting Awards, and the KBS Acting Award for Contribution Award.

The funeral will be held at the funeral home of St. Mary’s Hospital in Yeouido. The birth date is the 24th.
