National Tourism Award awarded to Mérida recognizes the efforts of service providers in the region

Mérida won the National Award as a Traditional Tourist Destinationthanks to the coordinated work carried out by the region’s tour operators, who make important efforts to offer quality services that compete with other tourist destinations in Latin America.

This recognition is an important achievement of the efforts of the entire private sector with government support, Those of us who have been working together to promote Destination Mérida, said José Ángel Torres, tourism service provider in the entity.

The tourism service providers who live in Mérida, both tourism operators, restaurants, hoteliers, among other related sectors, have substantially improved service to offer better service to tourists who come to the state, and it can be seen that Mérida is strongly positioned as a national destination, competing with important cities that also handle a large flow of tourists in the country, explains the renowned tourist service provider.

“Mérida deserves this recognition for the value of everything that has been done, and what still needs to be done, since the idea is to improve even more, to continue advancing in national and international tourism development, which is why we have been working together. with several tourist circuits that include Mérida in their routes,” said José Ángel Torres.

Regarding the economic part, the sector has seen improvement. It has not yet stabilized or reached the desired levels, but it has improved substantially, Torres said.

The second recognition was awarded to Chia Restrobar, located at the La Montaña station of the Mucumbarí cable car, as the best restaurant in the Quality of Service and Food category.

The 3rd edition of the National Tourism Awards were presented on the night of October 30 at the Humboldt Hotel, in the Waraira Repano, in the capital of the republic.

Likewise, the Catatumbo Lightning route, which starts from the Port of Palmarito in the Tulio Febres Cordero municipality, was certified as a New Tourist Corridor.

The awards were received by the regional and municipal authorities of Mérida and Libertador.
