Song Min-hyeok (18, 3 Bibonggo) held the GS Caltex Maekyung Open (total prize of 1.2 billion won, prize money of 300 million won) co-hosted by the Korean Golf Association and Asian Tour held at Namseoul Country Club (par 71, 7047 yards) in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province on the 6th. Min-hyeok Song, who finished the interim 5-under 66 strokes, took the lead (7-under 135 strokes) along with Lee Dong-min (37) and Kim Bio (32).
He caught a golf club at the age of 11, and it is his second year in the national team following serving in the standing army in 2019. He finished fourth at the Korea Amateur Golf Championships held here last year. There are only two amateur winners of this competition, which celebrated their 41st anniversary this year: Kim Joo-heon, a Korean-Japanese in 1982, and Seung-ryong Lee, a Korean-New Zealander in 2002.
In particular, Song Min-hyuk expressed his regret that he was not selected for the Asian national team. In the final selection, Song Min-hyuk finished second following Jo Woo-young (21). Bio Kim is the 5th winner of the KPGA, and Lee Dong-min recorded 2 wins in 7 years following the first win in 2014 at the Descente Korea Munsingwear Match Play on the KPGA Korean Tour last year.
