The management of the National Project for Plasma Derivatives revealed the diseases treated by plasma drugs, as human albumin is used in emergency departments and major surgeries to treat bleeding shocks, as well as burns and some kidney and liver diseases, as well as major operations such as heart surgeries, liver transplantation, and intensive care. As for immune antibodies, they are used for deficiency diseases. Primary and secondary immunity and some neurological diseases.

As for Factor 8, it is used to treat hemophilia (hereditary bleeding).

Regarding the goals of the national project for self-sufficiency in plasma derivatives, the project management said: We aim to achieve self-sufficiency in plasma derivatives in the Arab Republic of Egypt, in addition to supporting the Egyptian health system and its positive impact on the health of the Egyptian patient, in addition to developing and supporting the Egyptian expertise in dealing with plasma. And its derivatives, as well as manufacturing plasma derivatives in accordance with the highest international safety and quality standards, and achieving leadership in the manufacture, production and distribution of plasma-derived medicines in the Middle East and Africa. The project also aims to localize the industry, transfer this precise technology within Egypt, and expand periodic medical examination and surveys for citizens.
