NNA – The Minister of Environment in the caretaker government, Dr. Nasser Yassin, toured today the poultry factories of the “Al-Hawa Chicken” and “Wilco BM” companies. In Anfeh and complained, they benefited from the technical and financial support provided by the Lebanon Environmental Pollution Control Project (LEPAP).
The tour included a visit to the production units in the two mentioned institutions, in addition to the unit for treating solid waste and blood resulting from the skinning and meat transformation operations carried out by the Wilco BM factory. And the industrial waste water treatment plant in the “Al-Hawa Chicken” plant, which were implemented through the financing of the project mentioned above.
In a statement, the Minister of Environment considered that “the two institutions have a double importance: first, as huge national investments that make a significant contribution to providing job opportunities for hundreds of Lebanese families, for example, the Hawa Chicken Corporation, which has 2,500 employees and workers. Secondly, in the development of the meat production sector in Lebanon, why is this The sector has a direct impact on achieving food security, especially in light of the difficult conditions the country is going through.”
He stressed that the environmental commitment is necessary so that the operation and development of this sector must be accompanied by the treatment of various types of pollutants that result from it in order to protect the environment and preserve the health of the Lebanese. healthy environment for laboratories.
He added: “We are currently in discussion with international organizations to extend the LEPAP project implemented by the Ministry of Environment, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program through funding from the World Bank and the Italian Agency for International Cooperation, or to start work on a new project concerned with financing projects related to the treatment of pollution and the circular economy that can address Environmental problems in a profitable and sustainable manner.Here lies the importance of providing support projects to the private sector in general and the industrial sector in particular to reach environmental commitment, as this type of intervention has proven its ability to reduce pollution significantly and open the doors to new global markets for committed factories, which has become an urgent need due to the current economic conditions.
