NNA – Sydney – The Sydney Center of the “Lebanese Forces” party held its annual party under the auspices of the party’s leader, Dr. Samir Geagea, representing the representative of the Baalbek-Hermel region, Antoine Habashi.
The Maronite Archdiocese, Bishop Antoine Tarabay, Father John Kanaan, representing the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, Metropolitan Basilius Qudsiya, Michael Rizk, representing the Melkite Greek Diocese, Archbishop Robert Rabat, Father Charbel Abboud, Head of Saint Charbel Monastery and monks from the monastery, and Father Paul Melhem from Neama Center participated in the celebration. God Al-Hardini, Father Lebanon Tarabay, from the parish of Saint Joseph.
The ceremony was attended by Minister Tony Burke representing Federal Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Wendy Lindsay representing New South Wales Premier Dominic Perroté, Ministers Anthony Robert, Demian Terhub, Stephen Camper representing Opposition Leader Chris Maines, shadow ministers Sophie Koutsis and Julia Fein, and former Labor Party chief Luke. The Australia District Coordinator Tony Obeid, President of the Sydney Center Charbel Fakhry and his deputy Robert Abboud and members of the center, members of the Canberra Center, representatives of parties, heads of associations and institutions, a crowd of community members, cadres and supporters of the forces also participated.
The celebration opened with the Lebanese and Australian anthems and the anthem of the forces, a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs of the party and the martyrs of Australia. Then, a prayer and blessing was recited by Bishop Tarabay, followed by attorney Steve Stinton, Sophie Koutsis, Stephen Camper, and Tony Burke.
It was a speech by Charbel Fakhri on behalf of the Sydney Center, in which he welcomed Representative Habashi and affirmed, “The steadfastness in our cause, for the Lebanese Forces are history, solidity, commitment, stability, survival. The forces are not afraid, because we worship and will continue to prostrate before the Eucharist in the church, declaring our faith and committed to it, we are not afraid because we repeatedly We have overcome death, injustice, oppression and persecution, and we remain confident that God will preserve Lebanon.
In the end, Habashi delivered a speech in both English and Arabic in which he thanked the personalities participating in the celebration, members of the community, forces and supporters. He expressed his pride and joy for his comrades in all Australian states.
He said: “A thousand years in your eyes, O Lord, as yesterday, who crossed the yes of Lebanon is the Lebanon of faith, but today the two things are suffering from the suffering that has been put into it and it is steadfast because by its nature it was created to endure, but this does not mean that we do not retreat to the lowest levels of civilization and humanity, the basic needs of any human being are starting to diminish. Our patients are suffering, and so are our elders and children.”
He thanked the spreaders for their support of their families in Lebanon, and demanded that they “continue with this support, because Lebanon will return even following a while.”
In the end, Representative Habashi received from Obaid and Fakhri a symbolic gift.
