THE 2nd National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) of the Catholic Youth emphasized the unity of the Republic of Indonesia. Deputy for Youth Empowerment Asrorun Ni’am Sholeh in his speech emphasized that the Catholic Youth and other community organizations are important elements in maintaining social cohesion and nurturing the spirit of Bhineka Tunggal Ika.

“Our presence here is an investment for the future of the Republic of Indonesia. Contribution in sewing the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia, this is a very large investment, not just a physical meeting but in the midst of a decentralized government system and also strengthening regions with the principle of autonomy, the stronger the regional values ​​and also sectoral egos if not managed properly,” he said as quoted on Sunday (7/7).

The existence of Catholic youth and other community organizations in various regions can function as a connecting thread, a consolidating function, which unites Indonesia’s diversity.

Furthermore, Ni’am said that organizations such as Catholic youth can build circles, build solidity and also organizational solidarity. Together building a larger circle, even though different organizations but we have a meeting point in the context of youth and also students with a larger circle is the circle of youth solidity and solidarity of Indonesian youth.

“With the birth of cross-OKP organizations, we build togetherness, it is true that we are different, there are old and young, there are those who are indeed in organizations but there are also those who are merely interest organizations, but we are bound by our Indonesianness, that is what will knit and strengthen us together as one nation,” said Ni’am.

Niam closed his remarks by conveying the hope that the synergy between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and youth organizations would continue to be improved, especially on issues related to religious moderation and strengthening the character of youth leadership.

Also present at the event were the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Bahlil Lahadalia, the Acting Governor of West Papua and the Forkopimda, community leaders and participants of the 2nd Rapimnas of the Catholic Youth. (Z-8)
