“Insufficient communication of planning intention and explanation of necessity to members”
‘Law school students’ withdrew, ‘law school preparation students’ reviewed
[법률저널=안혜성 기자] The implementation of the National Law Contest, which was promoted to raise public interest in law and expand law school students’ employment opportunities at law firms, has become unclear.
The Korean Bar Association (President Kim Young-hoon) said, “As there are various opinions from members regarding the ‘1st National Law Contest’, which was scheduled to be held on August 26, we will fully review and comprehensively review them.”
The Korean Bar Association explained the background, saying, “The planning intention of the National Law Contest was not fully communicated to members, causing some confusion, and there was a lack of communication, such as not being able to accurately explain the need for the contest.”
He added, “The test for law school students is withdrawn because it is judged to have a formal problem with a contest that only asks for legal knowledge.”
However, in the case of a law contest targeting college students who are not law school students but preparing to enter law school, research is conducted in the direction of supplementing to evaluate law aptitude rather than simply asking for legal knowledge, and following going through a process of collecting opinions such as public hearings, whether or not to implement plans to review.
The Korean Bar Association said, “We will continue to make various efforts, such as improving problems that have been identified in the entire process of legal education, selection and training of legal professionals, and presenting a blueprint to expand the employment opportunities for law school students.”
