Doha, May 9, WAM/ Talal Shaveli, our national judo team player, will face tomorrow, Wednesday, De Witt Frank, the Dutch champion, in the middle weight (under 81 kg), in the world championship competitions, which will be held in Doha from 7 to 14 May.
657 male and female players from 99 countries, including 10 Arab countries, will participate in the tournament, whose prize money amounts to one million euros.
The tournament’s preliminary round activities saw the loss of our national team player, Shaveli Gram, to the champion of Tajikistan, Saeed Pur Shahbuz, in the under-66 kg competition, by a point difference, following a strong confrontation.
Japan maintained its lead in the championship with 3 medals (gold, silver and bronze) at the end of the second round. Spain came in second place with a gold and bronze, and Uzbekistan came third with two silvers.
