National Jiu-Jitsu Team Prepared for World Combat Games 2023: Sponsored by Mubadala Investment Company

Abu Dhabi, October 23 / WAM / The national jiu-jitsu team, sponsored by Mubadala Investment Company, is preparing to write a new chapter with achievements through its participation in the World Combat Games “Riyadh 2023”, which is hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from the 20th to the 30th of this October.
This participation comes after the historic achievement achieved by our national team in the Asian Games “Asiad” during the current month. The team includes in its ranks Omar Al Suwaidi in the 56 kg category, Khaled Al Shehhi in the 62 kg category, Saeed Al Kubaisi in the 85 kg category, and Abdullah Al Kubaisi in the 94 kg category. Al Shamsi 52 kg.
The World Combat Games is a powerful, high-level event that celebrates 16 different martial arts and sports, and includes competitions, skill displays, and conferences with the participation of the most prominent martial arts players and experts in the world.
Fahd Ali Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Emirati and Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federations, said: “Our national jiu-jitsu team aspires to consolidate its global and continental leadership by striving to achieve the greatest possible gains and win the jiu-jitsu competition title. Stressing that this tournament provides players with a new opportunity to showcase their skills and test their potential in preparation for participating in the upcoming competitions.”
He added, “The team’s champions succeeded in achieving an exceptional season in light of their achievements since the beginning of this year, as the people of the Emirates grabbed the spotlight in all the tournaments in which they participated, starting with the Asian Championship in Thailand, the Grand Prix in Paris and Bangkok, passing through the World Senior Championship in Mongolia and the World Junior Championship in Kazakhstan, and the 19th Asian Games, hosted by the Chinese city of Hangzhou.
For his part, Ramon Lemos, coach of the national team, said, “Our heroes and heroines are distinguished by their strong determination, solid will, and high concentration, and I am certain that they will make every effort to continue their successful path of achievements. The team is committed to a strict performance method in all tournaments, regardless of their importance, and this is what we will do in World Combat Games.
He added, “We have selected a group of the strongest and most prepared players for this tournament, and I am fully confident in their ability to deliver an exceptional performance as we have always known them to do, and we are very much looking forward to adding a new title to our coffers.”
For his part, Khaled Al Shehhi, a national team player who competes in the 62 kg category and won gold in the Asian Games earlier this month, said: “I am pleased to participate in this tournament and have the opportunity to test my skills against a number of the most prominent athletes in the world, especially since it is… It comes a week before the start of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which allows me to evaluate my abilities and prepare optimally.”
Omar Al Suwaidi, 56 kg, and Saeed Al Kubaisi, 85 kg, will open the national team’s journey in the tournament tomorrow, Tuesday.
