National industry is producing at 50% of its capacity – news

Government makes it clear that oil is not enough to support the current demands of the economy and that the Economic Coordination, Commerce and Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX) work together to change the situation

The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Rui Minguêns, said on Wednesday, during the 11th edition of Café Cipra, that the national industry is producing at 50%, far below its real capacity. Rui Minguês expressed concern regarding the situation, which will lead the sector he heads to design strategies to change the situation, since at a time like this it is important to have the best production levels, to supply the national market and export the surplus, so that we can truly diversify revenue sources.

On the occasion, the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, said that Angola is at a stage where it is no longer enough to sell a lot of oil or sell it at a higher price, as the current scenario requires more. The scenario has become so demanding that oil no longer responds. This reality forces the Executive to move and advance towards solutions, seeking a stronger, more resilient and robust economy as we all want.

This is how we moved forward with measures like PRODESI, all to give life to national production, as this is the only way to truly solve the problem. But despite the efforts, we still have a lot of dependence on imports, since even the existing industries in the country depend here and there on the import of material and/or raw materials that they cannot find here.

This is how, pointed out the facilitators of the 11th edition of CIPRA, which has been making efforts to open up space for the production chain. An effort that is part of a strategy and has been materialized by the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX). The president of the Board of Directors of AIPEX, Lello Francisco said that the institution had to redirect itself to become more efficient and bring more and greater results.

The light at the end of the tunnel

Hope for the improvement of the Angolan economy comes from the agricultural sector which, as we heard from the head of the ministry, Francisco de Assis, is happening and, therefore, increasingly vibrant. Agriculture has seen its budget grow in recent times, with 5% and more recently 6.6%. Francisco de Assis added that as an example, 70% of the tomatoes we consume come from Namibe, a fact that takes on relevance as it is an area with a vast desert area.

Another good example, said the minister, is related to the fact that we have gone from a production level of almost zero to a level that is not yet ideal, but is already acceptable. Proof of this, said the Minister of Agriculture, Francisco de Assis, is that when we look at the zungueiras, we realize that, unlike selling imported products, they sell national products, which did not happen four years ago.

Buy nationally to boost the industry

The Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, also spoke regarding the measure of obliging public entities to buy national products, which, as he pointed out, comes with the aim of giving more life to national industries, which were in a state of demise. line due to lack of market. Massano explained that in contact with industrial entities, it was realized that the problem was not raw materials, nor exactly production capacity, but rather the market, since everyone imported when they were supposed to buy the national one. “That’s what led to the measure,” he said.
