Yesterday morning, Thursday, July 28, Saga Falabella offered, in the middle of the National Holidays, several of its products for less than S/ 1. According to dozens of citizens, the department store offered televisions, high-end cell phones, washing machines and much more, at prices between 0.70 and 0.90 cents on their website.
This fact, peculiar in the middle of the celebration of the 201 anniversary of Peru’s independence, caused dozens of people to buy multiple artifacts at auction cost.
Such was the commotion in networks that several netizens did not hesitate to record how they made their purchase through the website, because the discounts were really irresistible. Some netizens, for example, managed to buy several units of each of the appliances for their own use and also as “gifts”.
What products did Falabella offer?
Televisions were among the most demanded products, for example, a 50-inch Smart TV 4K Ultra HD set was sold for no less than S/1. In addition, a 32-inch TV was offered at 0.50 cents.
In addition, Falabella also offered washing machines for 0.44 cents and a kitchen whose original price is from S/ 1,999 to S/ 1.30.
Even users on TikTok and Twitter pointed out that Samsung phones were also offered at 0.50 and 0.38 cents.
Why did Falabella offer its products?
Until now, Falabella has not commented on these offers; however, it is presumed that the low product costs are due to a system error on the platform itself.
As recalled, these types of system failures were previously recorded in other department stores such as Plaza Vea, a supermarket that offered televisions for S / 30 in May 2021.
At that time, the supermarket issued a statement saying that it was a mistake and that it would not deliver the products. “An inadvertent mistake altered some prices of electrical appliances on our website. We are sorry for the inconvenience”reads the letter.
Will Falabella deliver the products to its customers?
A Twitter user recounted in a publication that following making a long purchase list of appliances on the store’s platform, Falabella sent him an email canceling the sale and indicating that what happened was “an inconvenience”.
Likewise, another TikTok user, who had previously broadcast Falabella’s mega offers in a video, indicated that the company canceled all its orders, except for one containing beers. “There is only one order left to cancel,” he specified on the social network through the video that already has thousands of views.
Can buyers demand delivery of their products?
Taking into account the case of Plaza Vea and its offers that were due to a system failure on its platform, an apology from the brand is not enough, as Aspec founder Jaime Delgado mentioned at the time. Instead, you should hand out bonuses, discounts, vouchers, etc., in order to strike a deal with buyers.
“The support of article 46 of the Consumer Protection Code is very clear. What does it say? All customers have the right to have the offer fulfilled. They have to find a solution, because they can’t say ‘I was wrong’, period”he pointed.
Does Falabella continue to offer its products?
No, although on Falabella’s website there are still current offers on several of its products in the household appliances section, none of them appear with prices less than S/1.
Apparently the system failure has been solved and all the products appear with their normal price and others with a discount of up to 40%.
