National Highway announced that “will advance” with the project of the new layout of Route 22, by the north fence.

“After joint work between the technical areas of the national road agency and authorities from different Rio Negro municipalities, mainly the mayor of General Roca, María Emilia Soria, and the mayor of Cipolletti, Claudio Di Tella, it was agreed to execute a new road that will be developed between the junction with the current RN 22, east of Chichinales, and RN 151, south of Cinco Saltos”indicated from the agency in a statement.

The new road will extend through the area next to the existing gas pipeline and from Nación they assured that the project was agreed upon following the technical areas of National Highway Administration took into consideration the observations of the municipalities of Chichinales, Villa Regina, General Godoy, Ing. Huergo, Mainqué, Cipolletti, Fernández Oro, Allen, Cinco Saltos and General Rock.

“The result of this evaluation led to the need to create a new safe communication route that serves for passing traffic—with a high component of heavy transport that goes to Vaca Muerta—without affecting the towns bordering the current route of the highway. RN 22, in the provincial Alto Valle”, it was reported.

Where will the new Route 22 begin?

The revealed details indicate that the work will extend from Km 1,112 of the current RN 22, east of Chichinales, to the junction with RN 151, south of Cinco Saltos.

“Taking into account that the new trace will require the execution of links with the current RN 22, this aspect will be resolved through Provincial Route 6, in the vicinity of the town of General Roca, and following the path of the neighborhood roads that are in the vicinity of Fernández Oro and Allen”, they pointed out from Vialidad.

It was also indicated that within the framework of the project, the need to incorporate additional descents will be studied for socio-environmental reasons and traffic level.

Regarding the characteristics of the work, the agency informed that the intervention will consist of the construction of a highway of approximately 106.6 km, with two lanes in each direction of movement, in which basic works and pavement will be executed. In addition, it will include the execution of intersections at and at different levels, bridges and collectors in those sectors where it is pertinent; and horizontal and vertical signage.

“Once completed, the new highway will order vehicular circulation through the Alto Valle area of ​​Rio Negro, it will speed up time and reduce the cost of transporting heavy vehicles through the most productive area of ​​the province,” they concluded from Vialidad.
