National chess tournament takes place lively in the province of Uíge – Jornal OPaís

The president of the Provincial Chess Association (APX) of Uíge, Hamilton Cardoso, told the newspaper O PAÍS, that the National Championship of the sport that ends tomorrow, Wednesday, is taking place at a good pace, at the headquarters of the municipality of the Bago lands Red.

Hamilton Cardoso guaranteed that 65 athletes from the provinces of Benguela, Cuanza-Sul, Malanje, Luanda and Uíge are participating in the competition, which is being played using the Swiss game system.

“Expectations are being exceeded, as we have the participation of six provinces. We would like to have a larger number, unfortunately for financial reasons some of the other provinces ended up giving up”, he highlighted.

Still, Hamilton Cardoso recognized that the teams are moving the pieces on the boards with good athletes.
