Health sector professionals indicated that there are not enough PCR tests in the country, so they recommend people to immunize with third and fourth doses, before the Omicron B2 variant.

The secretary of the National Academy of Medicine, Huniades Urbina, pointed out that Venezuela is one of the countries in the region that performs the least PCR tests.

“Like the rest of America, we are present before a fourth wave of Ómicron B2”, he added.

The doctors affirm that some health centers show a peak of contagion that reaches up to 20%.

Likewise, they require the population to complete the vaccination status, which reaches 56.2% with two doses and reaches 63.7% of the total population with two doses.

The president of the National Academy of Medicine, Enrique López Loyo, urged the State to instruct the population to increase the number of people immunized.

“We have observed in recent months that the vaccination centers remain empty,” he added.

For his part, the president of the Venezuelan Society of Infectious Diseases, Manuel Figuera, assured that the authorities must formalize these indications.

“From a formal point of view, it is important for all of us to be clear in recommending the importance of the third and fourth doses in certain people at higher risk,” he added.
