In an interview with “Sept à Huit” on TF1, Nathalie Marquay returned to one of the regrets that has haunted her since the death of her husband Jean-Pierre Pernaut.

It’s been almost two years since Jean-Pierre Pernaut left us. The star journalist on TF1’s 1 p.m. program died on March 2, 2022 following lung cancer.

Sunday January 14, his wife Nathalie Marquay spoke on the microphone of the show Seven to Eight (TF1). She notably recounted the last moments of Jean-Pierre Pernaut.

Sick, the famous journalist had to go for additional examinations. A meeting which Miss France 1987 did not attend. And this absence still gnaws at her today. “I will blame myself for it all my life because it was the only time I did not accompany him to do the MRI even though I always accompanied him,” she explains.

“I never saw him awake once more.”

“That day, there were so many doctors around him. They told me: ‘Listen, go and rest, we’ll take good care of him’.” Before he was taken away by the medical staff, Nathalie Marquay wanted to kiss him. “I was just able to kiss his feet because there were so many doctors, machines around him that I mightn’t kiss him.” Jean-Pierre told me: “Yes, go ahead,” she said. Very affected, Nathalie Marquay added: “I never saw him awake once more.”

“And I talk to him, I talk to him, telling him that I thank him for everything he has done and that he must leave in peace. I wanted him to leave in peace! I didn’t want let him have regrets,” she concluded.
