Filmed strangling a man in the middle of the street on Friday, Nate Diaz has since been wanted by the Louisiana police. The former UFC fighter surrendered this Thursday.

He ended up surrendering. Targeted by an arrest warrant following being filmed Friday strangling a man in the middle of the street, Nate Diaz presented himself to the police of New Orleans this Thursday morning. Accused of second-degree assault and battery, the former UFC fighter was heard for four hours in police custody, according to the American people site TMZ. He was reportedly released on payment of bail.

He faces up to eight years in prison.

On a video widely relayed on social networks, Nate Diaz appears at the heart of a general brawl in Louisiana. We see him performing a “guillotine” on a TikTok star, Rodney Petersen Jr. The latter then collapses on the ground, unconscious following being the victim of this specific combat sports and very dangerous grip. Police say Petersen Jr was found “bleeding from the back of his head”.

As the British press recalled, the latter became known by playing on his (quite striking) resemblance between him and Logan Paul, another world-famous Youtuber with 23.6 million subscribers on the video platform. Nate Diaz, who has started a retraining in English boxing, is due to fight on August 5 once morest… Jake Paul, Logan’s brother. Enough for some to think Petersen Jr may have been mistakenly attacked by Nate Diaz.

The 34-fight (21-win) man, who bid farewell to the UFC in September 2022, faces up to eight years in prison (and a $2,000 fine) if convicted. His clan pleads self-defense. “Nate voluntarily surrendered to the New Orleans Police Department. We appreciate the way we were treated by the New Orleans police. We look forward to presenting all of the evidence and videos that show Nate acted in self-defense,” commented his representative, Zach Rosenfield.
