Natalia Lafourcade brought Latin flavor to the Riviera Maya

Bolero, cumbia and bossa nova were some of the many Latin genres that Mexican singer and songwriter Natalia Lafourcade brought to the dance floor during her performance at the third edition of the Paax Festival at the Xcaret Arte hotel, located in the Riviera Maya (southeast of Mexico).

The party took a while to arrive, and there was time for some of the clueless people who were crowding around the tables and chairs to arrive, just as the musicians from all over the world invited by the festival’s orchestra director, Alondra de la Parra, would do.

On the edge of the Caribbean waters and in the privacy of the Music Forum, the feelings of the hundreds of attendees were stirred in a sea of emotions and silence, which Lafourcade broke with the first song of her repertoire: ‘Cien años’, an adaptation of the old ranchero bolero created by Mexicans Rubén Fuentes and Alberto Raúl Cervantes González.

The Veracruz-born artist came on stage with a classic Mexican hairstyle and, as in all her performances for the album ‘De Todas Las Flores’ (2022), she wore her signature black dress, although this time slightly shorter due to the heat in the room.

“I want to start with that seed that I planted in this land with Alondra (de la Parra) years ago. I feel proud to be part of your family,” said the multi-instrumentalist excitedly, as if her words recalled ‘Carmesí’, the album they collaborated on together thirteen years ago.
