Natacha de Crombrugghe: the probable cause of her death revealed

The first results of the autopsy in the investigation into the death of Natacha de Crombrugge in Peru have been revealed. According to the forensic expert, the young Belgian of 28 years would be dead “with a violent blow to the front of the skull”. He thinks she fell in the canyon but does not rule out that she might have been attacked.

Natacha had been missing since January 24. His body was discovered last week in a canyon in the Peruvian Andes. The body has been identified “thanks to a DNA test carried out on the parents of the victim”said the Peruvian provincial prosecutor’s office.

“We have just received the results of the DNA tests, it is indeed our daughter”, confirmed the parents of the deceased. They had promised a reward of 15,000 dollars (15,490 euros) to anyone who provided information regarding their daughter. According to the local press, they kept their promise and paid the sum to the three brothers who found the remains of Natacha’s body while fishing in the river.

The 28-year-old tourist was on a trek in Peru. She had left a backpack in her hotel room in Cabanaconde, a small village perched at an altitude of more than 3,000 meters in the Peruvian Andes, before leaving alone, on January 24 around 05:00, to go and contemplate the canyon of Colca, one of the deepest in the world.
