The Qatari succeeded in capturing the admiration of all the followers of rally racing in the world, and also made the headlines of the largest newspapers, as the French newspaper “L’Equipe” described him, on Sunday, as “an outstanding driver in the Dakar and a sniper in the Olympics,” following his new achievement.
Al-Attiyah won the “Dakar Rally” title for the fifth time in his career and for the second time in a row, and despite his eighth place in the 14th and final stage, Sunday, which was won by the Frenchman, Guerlain Checheret, Al-Attiyah took the lead in the current version of the rally held in Saudi Arabia with a total time of 45 minutes. 1 hour, 3 minutes and 15 seconds.

Al-Attiyah was one hour, 20 minutes and 49 seconds ahead of his French competitor, Sebastien Loeb, who finished second, while Brazilian Lucas Moraes, driver of the Toyota team, finished third, one hour, 38 minutes and 31 seconds behind the Qatari driver.
With this coronation, Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah continues on the podium for six consecutive editions, as he won the rally race in 2023, 2022 and 2019, and finished second in the years 2021, 2020 and 2018.
On the other hand, this is the fifth title for Al-Attiyah following the 2011, 2015, 2019, 2022 and 2023 editions, to surpass the titles of the Finn, Ari Vatanen, and is ahead of him only by the French, Stephane Peteransel, who won the title 8 times, as Al-Attiyah became the only one able to equal his achievement.
Al-Attiyah’s victory in this year’s Dakar Rally confirmed that he adopts a successful strategy that leads him to winning titles and avoids uncalculated risks, because the most important thing in this type of race is to reach the finish line safely and not to reach the first place in every round.
Because Al-Attiyah, who has claimed the lead in the general standings since the third stage, did not make mistakes that cost him precious time in the struggle for the coronation, but rather tried to control the course of the rally in an ideal way, which helped him maintain first place at the end of the race without committing accidents.
The Qatari has employed his great experience in the world of rallying, to win the fifth title in his career, and to be the real star of the world of rallying, as he seems likely to win more titles.
