He said: ‘The doctor has said that Naseem will return to the team after three months and start his practice etc. And three months later he will be in the national team again.’
He said that ‘Naseem Shah was very fond of playing cricket since his childhood and he has beaten me many times for coming late from cricket at night.’
He said that ‘this obsessive passion has taken Naseem Shah to the national cricket team.’
Muzaffar Shah, 62, said: ‘I have six sons, with Naseem Shah being the fourth, and two more sons playing cricket, one in domestic cricket and one in the under-19 team.’
He said that ‘Naseem Shah was also good in studies but his passion for cricket was too much and after matriculation he gave all his attention to cricket.’
According to him, “Naseem Shah’s village, Jandol, does not have any ground to play cricket and Naseem Shah has gone ahead to play in houses, alleys and natural water channels and other children of the village also play in this way.”
‘A career full of challenges’
The fast bowler’s father said, ‘Naseem Shah’s cricket career has been full of trials, when he was young and was selected for the Quetta Gladiator team and when he was going to Dubai, he suffered a back injury and underwent nine months of treatment. It happened but he did not lose heart and then became a part of the Quetta Gladiator team.
Naseem Shah’s father told about the hardships of his son’s profession: ‘When he was selected for the first time in the national team to tour Australia, his mother died suddenly before the match. It was also a big shock for him and he could not attend his mother’s funeral and on the same day he played a match against Australia while his mother’s funeral was watched through video.
According to him, ‘Naseem was very emotional on her death because of her love for her mother because she was going to Lahore on Naseem’s wish and died on the way.’
According to him: ‘Naseem still says that because of missing his mother, he goes to the village less from Lahore because he gets worried because he is not there at home.’
Naseem Shah’s father Muzaffar Shah said: ‘Mother was praying to Naseem Shah at night and I am 100% sure that her prayers have been answered and will be answered. I have full faith in Allah that Naseem will earn more name for Pakistan.’
He added: ‘After becoming a national star, Naseem’s attitude has improved and he respects elders and loves children wherever he goes and his attitude makes people happy.’
When will Naseem Shah get married?
Muzaffar Shah said about Naseem Shah’s marriage: ‘It is customary among our Pakhtuns to marry young boys early, but when Naseem was asked about marriage, he said that I have a career and for three or four years I will not be married. There is no Arda.’
He said: ‘After three or four years, according to the custom of the Pathans, with mutual consultation, we will do what is destined here and there. I will also have my will for Naseem’s relationship and will also ask Naseem Shah.’
When asked about the team’s performance and Naseem Shah’s role, he said: ‘Our prayers are for the entire team as much as the Pakistani players. What will Naseem Shah do alone?’
