Washington: NASA has released a picture of a tomato found almost a year following it went missing from the International Space Station. NASA has provided the latest update on the disappearance of the tomato, which astronauts have deemed one of the universe’s greatest mysteries. The first fruits of tomatoes grown on the space station were missing.

American astronaut Frank Rubio, who holds the record for a 370-day space flight, grew tomato plants in the station in March. This tomato growing experiment was part of growing vegetables and other things in space for future long-duration missions. The footage of this tomato harvest was released by NASA’s research department, but the tomatoes that were harvested that day and kept in zip-lock covers were missing.

After searching for the tomatoes for a day but with no results, Frank Rubio was sure they were lost. Tomatoes of the Red Robin variety were cultivated. But there were some other astronauts who suspected that Rubio himself may have eaten tomatoes without remembering. Tomatoes, which remained a mystery for a long time, were discovered following eight months. They were found sitting in a zip-locked cover in unused condition. Jasmine Mogbeli, another astronaut, explained the discovery of the tomatoes a few days ago, but the pictures of the tomatoes that were picked are coming out now.

Rubio explained that the missing tomatoes on the International Space Station, which is the size of six bedrooms, may have accidentally ended up in the trash and dried out before returning to Earth. Rubio responded in October that he hoped that someday someone would find it and that some crumpled up stuff in a Ziploc bag would prove to them that I didn’t eat tomatoes in space.
