NASA explained the discovery of a mysterious entrance in the Martian rock

Previously, a picture received great popularity on the Internet, received On May 7, the Mastcam-Z camera aboard NASA’s Curiosity rover revealed a rather interesting feature in the Martian rocks at a geological feature known as Fronton Greenhue slope: what looks like a perfectly carved doorway that looks unusual among Martian landscapes.

“The slope at Mount Sharp has many natural cracks, including one 30 centimeters high and 40 centimeters wide, comparable to a dog’s entrance. This type of crack opening is characteristic of bedrock on both Mars and Earth,” NASA said.

Commenting on the excitement around the image that appeared, the rover team associated this with the effect of pareidolia, in which the human brain sees things or faces that are familiar to the human eye in surrounding objects.

“Of course, it may look like a small door, but in reality it is a natural geological feature! It may look like an entrance as your mind tries to make sense of the unknown,” the scientists added.
