NASA has denied the hypothesis that the flash that shone this Wednesday in the sky of Kiev was the satellite of the agency Reuven Ramaty High Energy Solar Spectroscopic Imager (Rhessi), which had been withdrawn from service and was due to fall to Earth, informa Archyde.com.

According to a spokesman for the aerospace agency, there appears to have been a mix-up in the forecast previous statement that the 300-kilogram spacecraft was to re-enter the atmosphere at approximately 9:30 p.m. (EDT) on Wednesday, April 19.

This clarification came following the night before, on social networks, appear videos showing a flash shining in the sky over the Ukrainian capital. Kiev residents reported that an explosion was heard following the flash, while Sergei Popko, head of the Kiev city military administration, stated that the flash was the result of the Rhessi falling to Earth.

It is not yet clear what caused the phenomenon.
